Some Import-Export Fees Could be a Thing of the Past

Industry and Commerce Minister Audley Shaw says some import and export fees may soon be removed from the law books in Jamaica.

He says he’s ordered a review of the fees by the Trade Facilitation Taskforce, headed by Patricia Francis, so that fees considered to be irrelevant can be removed.

Minister Shaw says this will help Jamaica’s trading infrastructure to become more competitive and adhere to international standards.

Minister Shaw says the push to increase Jamaica’s trade infrastructure comes against the backdrop of the gains in other sectors of the economy.
