Southern Health Authority Investigates Death of 9-Y-O Boy at Percy Junor Hospital

The Southern Regional Health Authority, SRHA, has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 9-year-old boy at the Percy Junor Hospital in Manchester, yesterday.

Angry residents from Spauldings, protested outside the gates of the hospital.

It’s understood the child was taken to the hospital last week Friday after presenting with fever, vomiting and diarrhea.

Sources say the boy was later sent home.

It’s understood the child was taken to a private doctor who referred him back to the hospital.

It’s alleged the child was taken back to the hospital on Monday.

He reportedly died the same afternoon.

The residents are alleging the child died because of negligence on the part of the medical staff at Percy Junor.

It’s understood a meeting was held with the hospital’s management during yesterday’s protest.

Reports are the hospital has expressed condolences to the family and ordered a full investigation into his passing.

It’s unclear if the child had the dengue virus.
