St Thomas Councillor Charged

Formal corruption charges have been laid against Councillor for the Morant Bay Division of the St. Thomas Parish Council, the People’s National Party’s, Rohan Bryan.

Bryan and businessman, Ludlow Mcwhinny, were this morning charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

In the meantime .. Nationwide News understands that Councillor Bryan has retained the services of prominent criminal defence attorney, Valerie Neita-Robertson.

Bryan and Mcwhinny were investigated for their alleged unlawful communication with the complainant in a sexual offence matter currently before the court.

Director of Public Prosecutions, Paula Llewelyn, ruled that the men be charged.

Prior to the DPP’s ruling, DSP Shand came under fire from some PNP Councillors in St. Thomas following the arrest of Councillor Bryan.

One of Bryan’s colleagues, Councillor Constantine Bogle, questioned DSP Shand’s competence and qualification to lead the St Thomas Police Division.
