Stadium East Reopened after $71.5m Upgrade

Minister of Sports, Olivia Grange, officially re-open the Stadium East facilities, today.

The stadium was closed to facilitate the resurfacing of the running track. The reopening of the stadium comes a day before the start of the Grace/ISSA Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

In October last year, Cabinet approved a $71.5-million contract for a German firm to replace the synthetic running track at Stadium East.

The work started in January this year. Minister Grange had high praises for the professionalism displayed by the contractors.
