State of Emergency More Harm than Good – Shields

Former Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields says a State of Emergency is not the answer to the spike in crime that has gripped western parishes in recent weeks.

Mr. Shields says such a declaration would cause serious harm to Jamaica’s tourism industry.

Mr. Shields says a greater understanding of the crimes committed in the western parishes needs to be garnered by law enforcement.
