Sunshine Girls Pick Up Silver In Inaugural Vitality Nations Netball Cub


The Sunshine Girls picked up the silver in the inaugural Vitality Nations Netball Cup after going down 67-56 against New Zealand in the Final, in England, yesterday.

Following a strong opening when they were down 16-15 at the end of the first quarter, the Jamaicans rallied to win the second quarter 15-14 and go into half-time 30-30.

However, the Silver Ferns came out strong in the third quarter to lead 49-41 at the end of the first 45-minutes.

Maia Wilson, who as named player of the match, scored 44 of 47 attempts for New Zealand.

She says they knew they had to stop the Sunshine Girls early.

Jamaica committed 30 turnovers during the match to New Zealand’s 21.

The Jamaicans also committed 58 penalty contacts to New Zealand’s 26.
