Teachers Continue Protesting over Wage Negotiations

Over 20 teachers at the St. Aloysius Primary School on Duke Street in Kingston, today vented their frustration at the slow pace of wage negotiations with the government, by protesting outside the school gates.

The teachers, most of whom were clad in black, gathered outside the school about 7am, chanting slogans.

When our news centre contacted the school this morning we were told that the Principal was chairing a meeting with staff and was unable to comment.

The President of the Jamaica Teachers Association, Doran Dixon, says the teachers are nearing boiling point.

The JTA is expected to continue negotiations with the team at the Finance Ministry on Wednesday.
