Tensions High In PNP On Presidential Nomination Day

Political tensions are rising ahead of today’s PNP presidential nominations.

Both the Peter Bunting and the Dr. Peter Phillips’ camps are confident of victory in the September 7 presidential election.

Councilor for the Trafalgar Division, Kari Douglas is supporting the Presidential challenger, Peter Bunting.

She says the nomination times have been a concern.

Mr. Bunting’s to be nominated between 8:30 and 9:30 while Dr. Phillips is to be nominated at 11.

Douglas says while the Bunting challenge has energized the party, there’re concerns of victimization.

She says senior party supporters backing the incumbent Dr. Phillips have sought to intimidate her for supporting Bunting.

Meanwhile, the Trafalgar Division Councillor’s refuting suggestions that she’s being pushed out of the South East St Andrew constituency.

Hylton also defended Dr. Phillips saying the incumbent leader has put together a formidable team and is getting overwhelming delegate support.

He’s confident that come September 7, Dr. Phillips will retain his position as party president.

Meanwhile, he says the favourability ranking of Dr. Phillips can be improved with effective marketing.

He says campaigning is in high gear and victory is sure.
