Thieves Make off with Over 70 Pigs in Lakes Pen

The Police say they are this afternoon intensifying investigations into the theft of more than 70-pigs in the Lakes Pen Area in St. Catherine.

A farmer is now counting his losses following the raid by criminals on the weekend.

Deputy Superintendent Kevin Francis of the Police Praedial Larceny Unit is appealing to the public to tell the Police what they know.

DSP Francis says this incident is an indication of the high levels of criminality involved in animal theft.

DSP Francis says the Praedial Larceny Unit is working closely with several arms in the Constabulary Force in their investigations.

He says the unit may call on the assistance of the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch, C-TOC to assist with the suspected organized crime aspect of the investigation.
