Three Die in Falmouth Crash

The Falmouth Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of three persons in a motor vehicle collision along the Falmouth Bypass in Trelawny last night.

The deceased have been identified as 41-year-old Dwight Sutton of Tilson in Bounty Hall, 23-year-old Janice Brown of Warsop, and 20-year-old Keno Williams of Clarks Town, all in Trelawny.

Reports are that about 11:00 p.m., Sutton was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer with Brown and Williams aboard, when on reaching a section of the bypass, he collided with a tractor heading in the opposite direction.

They were pronounced dead at hospital.

Head of the Police Traffic Division, Senior Superintendent Calvin Allen says he is saddened by the accident.

The driver of the tractor was also taken to hospital where he was admitted.

SSP Allen says he cannot say whether speeding was the main cause of the accident.

Last week, the Ministry of Transport said the country had reached a dangerous milestone by recording its one hundredth road fatality since the start of the year.

Transport Minister Mike Henry says that an assessment has shown that the majority of crashes is due to improper use of the roads.

The Transport Ministry says some motorists display poor judgement in overtaking, while others speed and show no regard for the warning signs.
