Thwaites Blasts Reid’s WhatsApp Controversy as ‘Fascist & Anti-Democratic’

Opposition Spokesman on Education, Reverend Ronald Thwaites, is labelling comments by Education Minister, Senator Ruel Reid as fascist, authoritarian and anti-democratic.

Last Friday, our news centre revealed that Minister Reid, threatened to teach a high school principal a lesson for publicly criticizing an education ministry policy.

Minister Reid made the comments in WhatsApp messages to the Political Ombudsman, Donna Parchment Brown. Reverend Thwaites says Minister Reid should apologise.

Reverend Thwaites is also imploring Minister Reid to withdraw what he describes as anti-democratic comments.

Reverend Thwaites says he doesn’t believe Minister Reid’s messages are grounds for dismissal. Meanwhile, he says the Political Ombudsman, Donna Parchment Brown, did the right thing in sharing Minister Reid’s messages with the subjects of the comments.
