Meanwhile, Minister Thwaites says he’s inquiring into why 600 students from the Clan Carthy High School in St. Andrew are being forced to stay home.
The school has cited a shortage of furniture. Clan Carthy has a student population of 1200.
However, Minister Thwaites says he doesn’t understand why a shortage of about 200 pieces of furniture would result in half the student population being unable to attend classes.
The Minister says the request for furniture from Clan Carthy only came to his attention last Friday.
He’s urging school administrators to make their needs known in a more timely manner.
Nationwide News left a message for Clan Carthy High Vice Principal, Laurel James this morning, but up to news time he had not returned our call.
