Thwaites Walks From Politics – Pryce, Duncan-Price Line Up To Succeed Him


Nationwide News understands that the executive of the Opposition People’s National Party, PNP, has approved Saturday, June 22 this year as the date for a selection conference in Reverend Ronald Thwaites’ Central Kingston constituency.

The election conference is to decide who’ll be the PNP standard bearer for the constituency in the next General Elections.

An e-mail sent today by the Julian Robinson-led secretariat advised members of the PNP’s National Executive Council, NEC, of the date that has been agreed for the selection conference.

The e-mail indicated that prospective candidates should formally make their intentions known to the party secretariat by 3:00 this Friday afternoon.

The secretariat also told its NEC that all aspirants for the post of PNP candidate for Central Kingston will be required to face the party’s integrity commission.

According to the secretariat, a draft voters’ list will be provided to all aspirants on Monday next week.

Pryce Faces Duncan-Price

Meantime, a battle is looming between Raymond Pryce and Imani Duncan Price to be the next PNP candidate for Central Kingston.

Mr. Pryce confirmed with our news center today that he intends to seek the post.

Mr. Pryce says the people of Central Kingston stand to benefit should he be elected as PNP candidate for the constituency.

Central Kingston is generally considered a safe PNP seat.

The incumbent MP for the area, Ronald Thwaites, told our news center today that he’ll not be seeking re-election.

In a letter which was sent last week to Mr. Thwaites and the PNP Central Kingston organization, Mrs. Duncan Price, confirmed her intention to be the party’s representative in the constituency.

The letter was disclosed by Nationwide News.

When contacted today, Mrs. Duncan Price said she was unable to do an interview at the time she was called.
