TODSS Submits Proposed Changes to Road Traffic Act

President of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services (TODSS) Edgeton Newman, says his organisation has made a submission to the Upper House of Parliament seeking changes to the proposed fines in the Road Traffic Act.

Mr. Newman says taxi operators are having serious concerns with some sections of the proposed new law.

He says strike action by taxi operators was averted yesterday following the submission to the Senate.

In the meantime, disgruntled taxi operators from Ocho Rios in St. Ann withdrew their services yesterday, allegedly in protest of what’s being described as the poor condition of the transport centres in the town.

Mr. Newman is renewing the call for authorities to rehabilitate the nation’s transport centres.
