Tourism Minister Expecting Strong Cruise Ship Performance

Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett, is anticipating strong cruise ship arrival numbers this season.

Minister Bartlett is attributing this to the 6,000 expected passengers on one of the world’s largest cruise ship- Harmony of the Seas.

He says the two other luxury ships Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas are expected to bring a significant number of tourist to the island.

Minister Bartlett says the island’s souvenir shop owners and craft traders should prepare themselves in an orderly way to capitalize on what is expected to be a huge influx of visitors.

The cruise-shipping season will start in November.

Meanwhile, he says the projected growth in the industry should result in more than 120,000 persons being directly employed.

The Minister says it’s against this background that he is urging all stakeholders and industry players to maintain high standards, ensuring that people will want to come back to the island.
