Tourism Minister Rebuffs Report Implicating Jamaica in Child Sex Tourism


Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett, is also taking issue with US State Department’s  2019 Global Trafficking in Persons Report, which also claims that Jamaica doesn’t adequately combat child sex in the country’s resort areas.

According to the report, non-governmental organizations and other local observers continue to report that child sex tourism is a problem in resort areas such as Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, Port Antonio and Kingston.

Minister Bartlett says consenting adults may engage in sexual relations while on vacation but he’s denying reports that their is a child sex tourism issue in Jamaica.

Minister Bartlett says reports of this nature, negatively paints a destination.

Minister Bartlett says Jamaica being recognized as the number one destination in the Caribbean is not surprising.

Travel site, Trip Advisor has ranked the nation as the best tourism destination in the Caribbean.
