Trade Unionists Bat for Performanced-based Pay for Elected Officials

At least two Trade Unionists are supporting calls for performance-based pay for elected representatives, including Members of Parliament.

President of the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions, Helene Davis Whyte, says politicians would be seen as leading from the front if they agreed to peg their salaries to specific performance targets.

In the meantime, President of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union, Kavan Gayle, says he also supports the call.

He’s also calling on the government to make better provisions for public sector workers to perform their duties effectively.
