Respected Political Historian Troy Caine, 71, Dies


Several tributes continue to pour in for one of the country’s leading political historians, Troy Caine who died yesterday afternoon.

The 71-year-old who had a wealth of political knowledge reportedly died after ailing for some time.

Press Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Naomi Francis says Caine was a walking encyclopedia; always willing to share his knowledge and humble in his ways.

Mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams tweeted that Caine was loved by so many and a teacher and reference for some of the best.

A fellow columnist, Garfield Higgins says Caine was always only too happy to share his rich reservoir of knowledge and was a truly good and decent Jamaican.

Others within the media industry are now questioning what future elections will be like without his input.

The 71-year-old columnist was also a radio political commentator.
