UWI Wants to Bring Sports Colleges Under One Umbrella

The University of the West Indies (UWI) wants tertiary institutions across the region specializing in sports to become Colleges of Sport under the umbrella of the regional institution.

Vice-Chancellor of the UWI, Sir Hilary Beckles, says the university is in dialogue with G.C Foster College, in St Catherine.

Sir Hilary was speaking with Nationwide News after the launch of the UWI’s Faculty of Sport today at the university’s Regional Headquarters, in St. Andrew.

He says the U.W.I is also in dialogue with the Mico University College.

During his address, Sir Hilary says the creation of a Faculty of Sport will ensure students will no longer have to choose between sports and going to university.

The Faculty of Sport is the first new faculty at the UWI in 40 years. It will have colleges on each of the four regional campuses of the University.
