Vaz Admits ‘Shortcomings’ in Tender for Police Used Cars

Minister without portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister, Daryl Vaz, is admitting that there were ‘shortcomings’ in the tender process for the two-hundred used cars that were to be procured for the Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF.

But today, Mr. Vaz, who also operates a used-car dealership says due diligence was needed.

Mr. Vaz says the government did not need to go through a tender process as there are enough vehicles available on the free market in Jamaica to supply the demand.

The Cabinet Minister says he’s uncertain as to why this wasn’t done.
