Westmoreland Man Shot, Hospitalized Following Daring Bank Robbery Attempt


A man is in hospital this afternoon in stable condition after he attempted to pull off a daring bank robbery last night.

The incident occurred at a credit union in Savannah District in Frome Westmoreland.

Accused of the crime is 49-year old Leroy Daley.

Police reports are that Daley approached a teller with a note which said robbery.

After he handed the note to the teller, Daley jumped over the counter and attacked the teller with a knife.

He reportedly opened a drawer and took $400,000.

A female security guard intervened and opened fire on Daley.

He was shot in his thigh.

Daley was taken to hospital where he’s recuperating.

He will be formally charged when he’s discharged from hospital.
