State Minister of Finance and the Pubic Service, Fayval Williams, says she’s optimistic the government will be able to meet the primary surplus target for this fiscal year.

Co-Chairman of EPOC, Richard Byles, revealed yesterday that the target was slightly missed for the first ten months of the fiscal year.

However, State Minister Williams says with March being a big month for tax collection, she believes the target will be met.

Minister Williams says the government’s technical team is working to deliver on its promise to implement a tax break for persons earning less than $1.5-million per annum by April 1.

Meanwhile, Minister Williams says the administration has every intention of keeping its promise to maintain the benefits available to companies listed on the Junior Stock Exchange.

Those benefits are due to expire at the end of this month.
