A woman is now in police custody in relation to a baby-stealing incident that happened at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in downtown Kingston, last month.
The woman was arrested after she turned up at the Registrar General’s Department (RGD) this afternoon, to register a baby boy.
Head of the St Catherine South Police, Senior Superintendent of Police, SSP, Clive Blair, says the woman was unable to present the necessary documentation to register the child. He says it is to be established if the baby the woman brought to the RGD is the one that was stolen from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital last month.
But, SSP Blair says his division and the Kingston Western Police are collaborating to probe the incident.
He says the woman is being questioned by detectives.
