Executive Director of the Caribbean Public Health Agency, CARPHA, Dr. James Hospedales says he expects the Zika Virus to spread throughout the Caribbean region.
This as he’s revealed, that for the first time, CARPHA has confirmed five cases of the mosquito borne virus in the Caribbean.
However, Dr. Hospedales has refused to name the country where the virus is present, but says it’s not Jamaica.
Dr. Hospedales is urging the public to inspect their homes and yards weekly to eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites indoors and outdoors.
He says there’s no vaccine to treat the illness even though there’s been no recorded deaths from the virus.
