Twelve people, including four women, from Majesty Gardens in St. Andrew were arrested and charged for unlawful possession of property after a container at the Kingston Freeport Terminal was robbed on Saturday.
Reports are approximately 3 a.m. the police received a call from the Jamaica Defence Force, JDF, at a check point near Majesty Gardens.
This, after people were observed moving what appeared to be stolen goods.
A motorcar was stopped and several items seized.
The driver and passenger as well as several persons assisting to unload the car were arrested.
Another police patrol team intercepted a car in which additional goods were reportedly seized and four people arrested.
The container held counterfeit goods that were scheduled to be destroyed.
More than 500 items including fake Jordan sneakers, other footwear, bags, items of clothing and toys were retrieved during the police operation.
