The Kingston West Police have charged a man with multiple offences following the killing of a 17 year old Denham Town High school student.
The man is 20-year-old Shawn Stanbury otherwise called ‘Country’, of Henden in Norwood, St. James.
Stanbury has been charged with murder, accessory to murder, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
He was previously listed as a person of interest in the case.
‘Country’ was slapped with these charged following the shooting death of Devenese Nelson, a student of North Street in Kingston.
Reports are that, sometime around 11PM on June 26, the police responded to calls about an explosion in Kings Heights, Denham Town.
Upon their arrival, Ms. Nelson was found at the scene with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head.
The Police say no weapon was retrieved from the scene.
He was charged following a caution statement and interview in the presence of a Justice of the Peace.
His court date is being finalised.
