The Area Two Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division, TCND and the Discovery Bay Police along with personnel from the coastguard, yesterday seized 212 lbs of ganja during an operation on board a ship which was docked at Port Rhoades in Discovery Bay, St. Ann.
The ganja is estimated to be worth about $JA1million.
The operation which was conducted between 10am and 2pm, also resulted in the seizure of 35 lbs of hashish, valued at 23-million Jamaican dollars.
No one was arrested in relation to the seizure.
In a separate incident yesterday, a woman who was in the process of checking in to board a flight to Brussels in Holland at the Sangster International Airport in St. James, was found with 5-pounds of cocaine hidden among items of clothing and other personal effects.
The drugs are estimated to have a street value of 3-million Jamaican dollars.
The woman, Cheraw Sadhoe, a Surinamese national and student living in Amsterdam, Holland, has been charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and attempting to export cocaine.
She’s booked to appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court on July 22.
