Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie says the country has seen a 24% increase in the number of building permits issued.

This has resulted in over $130-billion in revenue to the various local authorities.

The Minister was making his contribution to the Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives yesterday.

He says the vast majority of such permits were processed within 90 days.

Minister McKenzie also said $170-billion worth of applications were received for the same period.
