Jamaica’s largest shipment of Covid-19 vaccines landed at the Norman Manley International Airport shortly before 5:00 Friday afternoon.

The widely anticipated 300,000 doses, arrived on a British Airways flight from London Gatwick.

Senior government officials, including Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Health Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, along with UK High Commissioner to Jamaica, Asif Ahmad, were on the tarmac to welcome the flight.

The Health Ministry will be moving quickly to deploy the 300,000 doses across the island, as the largest vaccination blitz was set to get underway on Saturday morning.

The blitz will run until next Thursday.

On Friday, the Ministry of Health and Wellness opened vaccinations to all Jamaicans 18-years and older.

People may register for the blitz by visiting the Ministry’s website at www.moh.gov.jm.

The Health Ministry is moving to deplete this current batch of 300,000 vaccines by the end of September.
