Approximately 3,600 Jamaicans have been recruited under the employment drive for the cruise ship industry.
That’s according to Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett.
The tourism minister was speaking in the House of Representatives Tuesday afternoon.
The ministry is looking to tap into the local labour force to identify, recruit and deploy at least 10,000 of 90,000 workers required in the global cruise industry.
The only requirement for recruitment is proficiency in English and a clean criminal record.
The tourism minister says he expects a further drive to begin later.
