Fifty-nine fishermen from the Dominican Republic and 24 Jamaicans, allegedly caught fishing in Jamaican waters South of the Pedro Banks without licenses will appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish court in Half Way Tree today.

The Dominican Republic fishers are charged with operating without licenses and fishing without identification.

The captain of the boat is charged with operating an unregistered vessel.

The Jamaican fishermen who were on board another boat which is licensed as a carrier vessel, have been charged with fishing without licenses.

The Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard caught the fishermen South of the Pedro Banks last Wednesday.

The Coast Guard says they seized 7,600 pounds of fish from the Dominican ship, and 5,400 pounds from the Jamaican boat.
This is the second time in less than a fortnight that the JDF has caught poachers.
On March 26, they caught 32 Dominican poachers in Jamaican waters with over $10-million worth of fish.
