Head of the Kingston Central Police, Superintendent Michael Scott says he’s unable to confirm whether any of the seven persons found injured following a gun battle in downtown Kingston last evening, were simply bystanders to the incident.

The seven, including a policeman, were shot and injured in the vicinity of the Captain’s Bakery on King Street.

According to reports, about 6:45pm four men armed with guns, engaged a police patrol team in a shoot out.

Superintendent Scott says the police have not yet verified whether any of the gunmen were shot in the incident.

Superintendent Scott says the injured persons are now being treated at hospital.
