Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says 8 staff members at the Kingston Public Hospital, KPH, have been confirmed positive with COVID-19.
Dr. Tufton says this has resulted in another 31 members of staff being placed under quarantine, resulting in greater strain on the health facility.
The Health Minister also notes that across the island, an additional nine health care workers have tested positive for the virus.
However, Dr. Tufton says more medical staff will be hired in coming days to ease the stress on the health system.
The Minister also made it clear despite recent rumors the country is still well below its COVID-19 bed capacity.
