The Firearm Licensing Authority, FLA, is estimating that more than 1-million rounds of ammunition end up in the hands of criminals each year.

This was revealed by the FLA’s Chief Executive Officer, Shane Dalling at a media conference this morning. He says 52-million rounds were imported last year.

He was responding to questions from the media asking how many rounds of ammunition ends up in the hands of criminals.

Mr. Dalling admits that the imported ammunition hasn’t been properly tracked until accountability measures were put in place last year.

He says since accountability measures were put in place, ammunition sales have fallen by 80-percent.
