Executive Director of the Jamaica Accountability Meter Portal, JAMP, Jeanette Calder, says the decision by Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert, to step aside as House Speaker and MP, is a step in the right direction.
Ms. Calder says while she’s shocked at her resignation from both posts, it would’ve been better had Mrs. Dalrymple-Philibert recused herself as House Speaker on Tuesday.
Ms. Calder sought to make it clear that taking accountability for one’s actions must not be viewed as punishment or guilt.
