Accused ponzi schemer Mark Jones is reportedly negotiating a plea bargain with US authorities.

Jones is accused of telling investors in the US that their monies would be used for investments in Jamaica.

He also owns 49-percent of Global Gateway Solutions, which operates a call centre in the Montego Bay Free Zone.

The company has denied knowledge of Jones’s alleged activities, and is also refuting claims that they benefited from proceeds of the ponzi scheme.

According to a report on Caribbean News Now, Jones skipped his court date in the US last week.

The report says the US Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, has obtained a court order freezing his assets, and is reportedly combing through multiple account records in his name in an attempt to locate other beneficiaries of the scheme, and the fate of the money invested by his victims.
