The National Water Commission, NWC, says none of the country’s 14 parishes have escaped the ravages of the ongoing drought.
The Acting President of the NWC, Mark Barnett, says much of the island has experienced below average rainfall since the start of August.

Mr. Barnett says weather patterns and conditions in Jamaica, like much of the Caribbean, are being influenced by the El Nino phenomena.
He says the only consolation is that the prevailing conditions have contributed to an inactive Atlantic hurricane season.
