The Jamaica Animation Nation Network is welcoming the tabling of the National Animation Policy Green Paper.

President Chevonnese Chevers Whyte says the move will provide improved visibility for the industry.

The Green Paper outlines the Government of Jamaica’s strategic direction for strengthening and expanding the animation industry.

It’s seeking to establish the mechanisms, strategies, and regulatory structures required to address the needs of the sector while supporting the growth of a globally competitive digital creative economy.

On Monday, the Office of the Prime Minister held a public consultation on the draft policy to get input from stakeholders. It was held at ROK hotel in downtown Kingston on Monday.

Attendants said financial assistance, education and marketing should be the main focus of the policy to ensure global competitiveness.

Chevers Whyte believes more needs to be done to support the local industry.
