Yet another St James man has been charged with the rape of a minor.

Fifty-two-year old Herman Atkinson of Richmond Hill Road in St. James has been arrested and charged in connection with the assault of a 15-year-old girl.

Reports are that the victim boarded a bus being operated by Atkinson and was left alone in the vehicle after all other passengers reached their destination.

Atkinson took the victim to a house where he removed her from the vehicle and sexually assaulted her. He then transported her half of the way to her home, forcing her to make the rest of the journey on foot.

His arrest comes on the heels of another St James man being arrested for a similar offence committed in August last year.

Forty-six-year-old disc jockey Shawn Stewart, who goes by the name DJ Kentucky, was charged this week with the rape of a 12-year-old schoolgirl in the parish.

The St James police say Stewart had sexual intercourse with the child against her will, after he lured her to his home.

The child reportedly went to to the DJ’s house to collect money to purchase a gift for her mother.

She relayed the incident to her parents, who reported it to the police.

Stewart turned himself in to the police on January 19.

It’s understood the police are also investigating whether other persons were involved in the incident.
