Opposition spokesman on Agriculture, JC Hutchinson, says government may need to help some farmers and their families survive the drought.

Speaking on Nationwide This Morning, Mr. Hutchinson says farmers in St. Elizabeth have watched helplessly as the drought has destroyed their livelihoods.

Mr. Hutchinson says livestock farmers are feeling the effects of the drought as the price of keeping their animals alive has skyrocketed.

The MP for North West St. Elizabeth says the drought has highlighted the need for a restructuring of the agriculture sector.
