Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Audley Shaw, says he’s in support of the decision to separate the National Contracts Commission from the Office of the Contractor General.

On Tuesday, Public Service Minister Horace Dalley announced plans to separate both entities.

Mr. Shaw says he was the one who started the process of separation, while he served as Public Service Minister between 2007 and 2011.

He says the previous JLP administration saw the separation as a major step towards reducing bureaucracy.

Mr. Shaw is dismissing suggestions that the separation of the entities will usher in a new wave of corruption in the award of government contracts.
