Efforts are currently underway to speed up the completion of a COVID-19 field hospital in Falmouth, Trelawny to host patients suffering from the virus as the authorities are running out of space in St James.

The clinical Coordinator at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St James, Dr Delroy Fray, says the new field hospital would accommodate the current overflow.

The disclosure by the senior medical officer comes as news emerged that a COVID-19 ward at the hospital is filled beyond capacity.

He says the number of cases coming into the hospital have increased.

Dr Fray also says medical spaces are being created to host more patients.

The Clinical Coordinator says more spaces have to be made available for patients who do not require accommodation.
