Jamaican international Leon Bailey today struck his fifth goal of the season for Aston Villa as they beat champions Manchester City 1-nil in their English Premier League clash at Villa Park.
Bailey’s goal came on 74 minutes as his shot from outside the box took a deflection and beat City’s Brazilian goalkeeper Edison.
It was City’s fourth game in a row in the Premier League without a win and they have now dropped to fourth in the standings behind Villa who are now up to third.
Liverpool maintain second after a 2-nil win over Sheffield United thanks to Virgil Van Dijk and Dominik Szobosalzai.
Manchester United were also winners, they beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford with a double from Scott McTominy.
In other games Fulham crushed Nottingham Forest 5-nil at Craven Cottage, Bournemouth stopped Crystal Palace and Brighton beat Brentford 2-1.
