COVID-19 cases in Barbados have doubled in the last two weeks.
The Health Ministry’s latest update says between April 29 and Saturday, May 12, there were 228 new positive cases from 817 tests.
Ninety four of the positive cases were males and 138 were females.
The ministry says this is a significant jump over the previous April 15 to 28 period when only 100 new cases were recorded.
The island also recorded four deaths from the COVID-19 virus during the period, taking the total number of lives lost from the start of the pandemic to 593.
Hospitalisation for the period however remained low at seven persons.
So far, the island has recorded 107-thousand, 7-hundred and 94 COVID-19 cases.
