Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett, is calling on regional Government’s to intensify efforts to respond in an aggressive manner to threats facing the tourism sector.
Minister Bartlett was speaking to the media yesterday in the US Virgin Islands where he participated at the meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative, CGI Action Network on Post-Disaster Recovery.
The conference began on Monday and is to end today.
This Action Network brings together leaders from across sectors to develop plans which advance recovery and promote long-term resiliency across the region.
The Tourism Ministry says the meeting outlined innovative programmes in the tourism sector and sustainable practices which are conducive to economic growth.
Minister Bartlett met with former US President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during his visit to the US Virgin Islands.
He told the meeting that Jamaica continues to intensify efforts to position the country and the Caribbean as the new reference point for Tourism resilience building.
