In another sign that he’s preparing to challenge for the leadership of the opposition People’s National Party, Central Manchester MP, Peter Bunting, is to outline some of his ideas to renew the 78 year old party.
Mr. Bunting is scheduled to spell out his ideas to renew the PNP when he addresses a public forum at the Jamaica Theological Seminary in St. Andrew on Thursday.
Bunting’s address will be centered on the theme – ‘The PNP: then and now – renewing the movement around ideas rather than personalities’.
Former Justice Minister and Bunting-ally, Senator Mark Golding, is among the panelists advertised to take part in the public forum.
PNP Deputy General Secretary, Julian Robinson and University Lecturer Dr. Christine Cummings are also on the panel.
Mr. Bunting’s address is to begin at 6:00pm.
The former National Security Minister this afternoon advertised the forum via his twitter account.
On April 4, he disclosed publicly for the first time his interest in the job of PNP President.
On Sunday, Mrs. Simpson Miller said she has not indicated to anyone that she has intentions to step down as PNP President anytime soon.
Mrs. Simpson Miller, who’s 70 years old, has declined to give a timeframe for her departure.
The PNP President says she’ll defeat anyone who challenges her.
