Cabinet has approved a $1.3 billion contract to roll out an electronic record system for the health sector.

That’s according to health minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton.

Dr. Tufton was speaking in the House of Representatives this afternoon.

The new initiative will see the health facilities across the country move away from the paper-based system currently in use.

The health minister described the move as game-changing with a myriad of benefits.

Dr. Tufton says the project will be rolled out over the next year and a half across several facilities in the first phase.
