The Education Ministry says a safety audit of all children’s homes is to be before Cabinet before the end of the month.

Acting Permanent Secretary in the Education Ministry, Dr. Grace McLean, says once cabinet reviews the document a decision will be made as to whether it should be made public.

The audit comes as a section of the Jamaica National Children’s Home in St. Andrew was gutted by fire last Friday.

The Jamaica Fire Brigade is still investigating the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, Minister with Responsibility for Education, Karl Samuda, says the Ministry is prepared for next month’s start of the new school year.
