Jamaica’s Population and Housing Census for 2022 is to begin in September.

Finance minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke, yesterday briefed the House of Representatives on one of the most critical data collection undertakings.

The country is to conduct a census every decade with the last being conducted in 2011. However, it was delayed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Dr. Clarke says the census is important for government planning.

Meanwhile, Dr. Clarke says the census for the first time will be done in compliance with the country’s data protection legislation which was passed in 2020.
