National Security Minister, Dr. Horace Chang, says legislation is coming within weeks to address the issue of crime and homicides in Jamaica.
Dr. Chang says smaller changes will be coming with larger more substantive measures on the way which will require further research and deliberation.
He was speaking on Nationwide this Morning with Abka Fitz-Henley and Danielle Archer.
One of the matters under consideration according to Dr. Chang is the issue of Bail as a right.
The Minister’s commitment to the fight against crime comes as the nation recorded a more than 10 percent increase in murders so far this year compared to a similar period last year.
The National Security Minister made it clear that Jamaica’s context of violence and murder is wholly unique, particularly brutal, and will require specific and original interventions to overcome it.
